Barrio Libre Historic District

Barrio Libre, south of downtown Tucson, was established in the 19th century as a neighborhood of townhomes for Mexican ranching families. The National Register of Historic Places added The Barrio Libre Historic District to its rolls in 1978. The neighborhood consists of more than 200 historic structures. Today, harmonious new homes integrate with the barrio's established character and neighborhood restaurants occupy renovated historic buildings.

Barrio Libre.Five Points. 485 W. 18th Street (currently for sale) transforms a vacant lot into an urban oasis. Rooftop solar panels generate more electricity than the home needs and a wall-of-glass frames views of a rain-garden courtyard and the downtown skyline and Catalina Mountains beyond.
